What boat storage costs in Menorca
We quote per boat rather than from a list, because the variables genuinely change the answer. Here is exactly what those variables are, so you can work out roughly where your boat sits before you ask.
Six things that move the price
- Length and beam
Biggest single factor. Storage is sold by the space a boat occupies, and beam matters as much as length. A wide 8 metre motor boat can take up more room than a narrow 9 metre sailing boat, which is why we ask for both.
- Indoor or outdoor
Large. Undercover space costs more to provide and there is less of it, so it prices higher. Outdoor hard standing is the cheaper option and suits a great many boats perfectly well.
- How many months
Large. A five-month winter lay-up, a full year and a multi-year stay are priced differently. Longer arrangements usually work out better per month than short ones.
- Shrink-wrapping
Moderate. An optional extra, priced by the size of the boat. Worth it for an open boat stored outside; unnecessary for a boat under a roof.
- Trailer or cradle
Small. Whether the boat arrives on its own trailer, on a cradle or needs to be supported changes how much room it takes and how easily it can be moved.
- Access during storage
Small. Occasional visits are part of the service. A boat that needs to be pulled out repeatedly through the winter is a different proposition, so tell us if that is likely.
Storage against a berth you barely use
If you are weighing the two up, this is the comparison that matters.
A berth you do not use
- Charged year round whether you sail or not.
- The hull keeps fouling all winter.
- Lines and fenders wear every time it blows.
- You still have no space to work on the boat.
Storing it ashore
- Charged for the months the boat is actually with us.
- Fouling stops the day it comes out.
- Nothing to chafe and no swell to worry about.
- You can get at the whole boat, standing up.
Things worth checking that are not the price
Storage is one of those services where the cheapest quote and the best outcome are frequently different quotes. Before you commit anywhere, ours included, it is worth asking whether the site is actually secure and guarded or simply fenced, whether you can get to your own boat during the storage period, how boats are supported and spaced, and whether the quoted figure is the whole figure.

Questions about cost
Why do you not publish a price list?
Because a published rate would be either misleadingly low or needlessly high for most boats. A 4 metre RIB outdoors for five months and a 9 metre cruiser indoors for two years are not variations of the same job. Send us the details and you get a real number rather than a starting point.
What information do you need to quote?
Length overall, beam, whether you want indoor or outdoor, the months you need, and whether the boat is on a trailer. If you want shrink-wrapping, say so and we will include it.
Is indoor much more expensive than outdoor?
It is more expensive, yes. Whether it is much more depends on the boat and the length of stay. The fair comparison is indoor against outdoor plus shrink-wrap, and on that basis the gap is often smaller than owners expect.
Is it cheaper than keeping the boat in the water?
Over a winter, storing a boat ashore normally costs less than a berth for the same months, and it removes the spring clean-up as well. The saving is not just the invoice; it is the fortnight of work you do not have to do in May.
Do you need payment up front for the whole period?
Terms are agreed when you book, and we will set them out clearly in the quote so there is nothing to discover later.
Is insurance included?
Keep your own boat insurance in place and tell your insurer the boat will be stored ashore. Some policies are cheaper for a laid-up boat, which is worth asking about.
