Why lay up here
Winter in Menorca is harder on a boat than people expect
The island is beautiful in August and unforgiving from November. Three things catch owners out.
The tramuntana does not ease off
Menorca is the windiest of the Balearics. From November the tramuntana runs for days at a time, and a boat on a mooring or an exposed pontoon works its lines and fenders the whole while.
Nothing stops growing
Mediterranean water stays warm enough for fouling to keep going through winter. Leave the boat afloat and you spend the first fortnight of the season scrubbing rather than sailing.
Nobody is watching
Most owners on this coast are not on the island between October and May. That is six months of weather, damp and unnoticed problems with nobody to check on the boat.
Services
Three ways to store the boat
Which one suits you comes down to what you want to protect and what you want to spend.
Indoor storage
Under a roof, out of the sun, the rain and the salt air. This is what we recommend if you care about gelcoat, upholstery or anything that suffers in damp conditions.
More detailOutdoor storage
Hard standing at a lower price. Combined with shrink-wrapping, the boat is sealed against rain, dust and UV for every month it sits still.
More detailYear-round storage
Not everyone works to a winter season. If you only use the boat occasionally, we can keep it all year and have it ready whenever you come over.
More detailSecurity
A guarded yard, not a field
If you are handing your boat over for six months, the only thing that really matters is that it is somewhere safe.
- Guarded siteYour boat is kept in a secure, guarded facility rather than on an open plot.
- Controlled accessOnly staff and owners get in, and access is arranged rather than open to anyone.
- Off the waterNo mooring to drag, no lines to chafe and no swell to worry about while you are away.
What we take
We work with the kind of boats that actually fill the coves of south-east Menorca: day boats, small cruisers, RIBs and jet skis owned by people who sail for the season rather than year round.
- Motor boatsup to 10 m overall length
- Sailing boatsup to 10 m overall length
- RIBs and inflatableswith or without a trailer
- Jet skissingly or in groups
Boat over 10 metres? Ask anyway and we will tell you straight away whether it fits.
Areas
Where our owners keep their boats
Fifteen stretches of coast across Maó, Es Castell and Sant Lluís, from the harbour pontoons to the smallest southern coves.

North coast
Where we are
Our facility is in Menorca, minutes from Mahon harbour and the coves of Es Castell and Sant Lluis.
The yard sits in the industrial estate on the edge of Mahon, so the trip from the harbour, from Es Castell or from any of the Sant Lluís coves is a short one by road.
What will it cost?
We do not publish a single rate, because a 5 metre RIB outdoors and a 9 metre cruiser under cover are not remotely the same job. Price follows length and beam, indoor or outdoor, the number of months and whether you want the boat shrink-wrapped.
Frequently asked questions
Where exactly is your storage facility?
We are at Carrer de sa Dragonera, 2, 07714 Maó, in the industrial estate just outside Mahon. It is a short road journey from anywhere in the south-east of the island, including Es Castell, Sant Lluís and the coves beyond.
Is the boat secure while it is in storage?
Yes. The site is secure and guarded, with controlled access. Boats are stored either under cover or on hard standing, not left on an open plot with public access.
When should I lay the boat up?
As soon as your season finishes, which for most owners here means October. The first autumn depressions do more damage to a boat left afloat than the whole of a settled summer.
How big a boat can you take?
Up to 10 metres overall, motor or sail, plus RIBs, inflatables and jet skis. If your boat is longer than that, get in touch and we will tell you honestly whether we can fit it.
What does storage cost?
It depends on length and beam, whether you choose indoor or outdoor, how many months you need and whether you want the boat shrink-wrapped. Send us those details and we will quote for your boat specifically.
Can I get to the boat while it is stored?
Yes. Let us know in advance and we will arrange access so you can check the boat over or get work done during the storage period.
Do you service engines as well?
No. We store boats; we are not a workshop. Plenty of owners arrange servicing with a marine engineer on the island and bring the boat to us already prepared.
Book space for your boat
Indoor space is limited and tends to go before autumn arrives. Get in touch and we will confirm what is left.
